Professionals with business development, sales and account management experience as well as Managed Service Providers (MSPs), Channel Partners, Value Added Resellers (VARs) and System Integrators will be well suited to become service brokers at 8KMiles.
What is the role of a service broker?
Service brokers can effectively leverage their industry connections and influence to generate business through 8KMiles. Service brokers can invite businesses in their network to join the 8KMiles ecosystem and outsource work safely and cost-effectively. They can enable and manage the connection between their clients and service providers. Service brokers may be thought of as relationship or account managers.
How can I make money as a service broker?
As a service broker, you will make money when your buyers execute projects through the 8KMiles portal. You can help your buyers transact on 8KMiles in 3 ways.
- Refer your buyer to 8KMiles directly for executing the project through the 8KMiles managed model. 8KMiles will share profits with you.
- Get the project executed by your virtual team (comprising of Project Managers and Software / Knowledge professionals) on 8KMiles. You can mark up the rates that you negotiate with your team members - the markup can be in line with the value that you bring to each engagement.
- Make your buyers signup for the 8KMiles self service model. Earn a commission every time your buyers pay providers for work done.
You will be able to manage your pipeline of opportunities and your buyer accounts using the Service Broker Dashboard available on the portal. 8KMiles’ objective is to provide the tools and collaborative components necessary for business development professionals to build and manage relationships and get amply rewarded.
How can I become a service broker?
To become a service broker at 8KMiles:
- Choose the Service Broker option when you sign up as a new user. You will need to provide a valid email address - this will be your user ID on 8KMiles.
- 8KMiles will send a welcome email to you along with the activation URL. Once activated, you can login to the 8KMiles ecosystem
- Enter your professional details and complete your profile
- After you set up your profile, you can start inviting your buyer connections to 8KMiles
- You can also form your own Virtual Team by inviting project managers and other service providers to join you

What is a virtual team?
Virtual team is the team formed by the service broker to offer services to buyers. Based on the domain or areas of expertise, service brokers can form their own teams by inviting providers with certain skills. While forming the team, service brokers can interview the provider candidates to understand their skill sets in order to better serve their buyers? needs. Provider?s billing rates will also be negotiated at this stage. A virtual team can also be referred to as a Virtual Company.
How do I invite my contacts?
Once you have updated your professional information, assigned an email ID and are verified by 8KMiles, you will be able to invite your contacts.
To invite buyers:
- You can click on the
button. You will be able to add the names and email addresses of contacts you wish to invite. You will be presented with a standard invitation message with link to 8KMiles. This message can be modified by you as needed. - You can also invite people from your Contacts page. You can add your connections in your Contacts page and then invite them to join 8KMiles. You can select the invitees and then use the
option to invite them. Contacts can also be added by using the
option available.
To invite providers:
- Once you create your virtual team, you can start inviting providers to join your team by clicking the
button. This will take you to the Find Providers screen where you can search for providers and invite them. - You can also directly go to the Find Providers page to search for providers matching your needs and invite them.
How do I manage my invites?
You can manage your invitations and invitees by going to the My Invites page. Here you will be able to look at the status of all your invitations and invitees. You will be able to sort by status (pending, accepted, rejected), invite type (internal, external) and invite category (team invite, team bid invite, sales contact).
How do I view and manage my sales pipeline?
This can be done using the My Opportunities and My Accounts pages.
My Opportunities:
When your buyer posts a project, it will be displayed in the section. This gives you a snapshot of all the opportunities you have in your pipeline/under negotiation etc. You can view the bids and communicate with providers and help the buyer choose the right bid during this phase of the sales cycle.
My Accounts:
When a buyer awards the contract and the provider accepts it, the Project will move from My Opportunities to My Accounts section. From here, you can actively monitor and maintain the relationship between buyer and provider and help coordinate the project.
